ICONS FRAMED IN KIOT

Kiot - in Greek, "a box" - it is a case to store icons. Outwardly kiot is a glazed box or a special glazed cabinet. Originally kiot came from Jews religious tradition to keep the Torah scrolls. In the earliest ages of Christianity kiot was used as a showcase with objects of worship. Materials are used for kiots - wood, copper, bronze and gilt. Kiot can be hung on a wall or placed on an icon stand.

Lomonosov Porcelain

Lomonosov Porcelain is the first and the most famous Russian porcelain manufacturer. It was Tsar Peter the Great's big dream to produce Russia's own porcelain.
In 1744 his daughter Empress Elizabeth established the first porcelain factory in St. Petersburg, Russia.
266 years have passed - 266 years of unique, remarkable, difficult and highly interesting history for the first Russian porcelain manufactory.
